To do a First Look or not to do a First Look. That is a question a lot of engaged couples face and we are here to give you the answer! Lisa and Kyle came to us a little over a month before their wedding day, they weren’t even going to have a big wedding but when their family found out they might do a quick ceremony at city hall, they interveined. A lot of people don’t realize this when they say, “Yes!” to their fiancee and start planning their wedding, but they soon realize that a wedding day is not just about the couple. While you should always do what makes YOU happy, remember that a wedding day is a chance for your friends and family to celebrate your union; it’s a chance for your Dad to give you away; it’s a chance for your best friends to show you how much you mean to them and how much they love you as a couple; and it’s obviously a chance for all your friends and family to get together and PARTY!!! Keeping all of that in mind, Kyle and Lisa decided to have their wedding at Harmony Wynelands in Lodi, California and they expressed that they were so happy they chose to do so. Given that they booked us so last minute, we were on a time crunch and could only squeeze 3 1/2 hours in! How did we get so many photos done in just 3 1/2 hours you ask…..that leads me into my previous question….to do a First Look or not.
If you are debating a First Look, our advice is DO IT!!! It saves so much time! So often when coupled don’t do a First Look, we stand around waiting for quite some time in between the getting ready photos and the ceremony and when we have to cram the bulk of the photos in after the ceremony, and let me tell you….your guests might not appreciate waiting an hour and a half for you to join the party. Because Lisa and Kyle did a First Look, we got all of the amazing photos of them and their Bridal party done before the ceremony even started, and they even had time to go freshen up before the ceremony. And, another huge bonus of the First Look, is that Lisa and Kyle were able to have a wonderful private moment before the ceremony. Kyle was able to tell Lisa how beautiful she looked and really soak in the moment rather than being focused on the ceremony and everyone’s eyes on them. They could have an intimate moment and hold each other and kiss. Plain and simple, we would not have been able to get all the photos we did in the short time we had if they had not done a First Look. And, the sister of the groom, who acted as not only wedding planner but the officiant, also busted her behind to hustle to make sure that Lisa and Kyle got all the important moments captured before we had to leave.
Lisa and Kyle’s wedding went off without a hitch and their love and joy was simply infectious!!! They were so much fun to work with and we can’t wait to work with them again, maybe for a maternity shoot?? 😉 We hope you enjoy their photos and if you are debating a First Look, don’t hesitate, do it!!!
