Sydney & Taylor’s Wedding

Sydney & Taylor’s wedding was just as I’d expect a wedding would be for this couple… it was organized, FUN, elegant, and SO GORGEOUS!!!! I had the pleasure of working with Taylor’s brother, Tyson, awhile back. When Taylor and Sydney reached out to me, I knew I had to be a part of their day and capture all the love and joy between these two! They are seriously best friends and it shows. I will let their photos speak for themselves, enjoy!

Special shout out to my second shooter, Lauren from East Bay Portraits for helping me capture this beautiful wedding. You can check her work out on Instagram @eastbayportraits

The Ideal Timeline!

I know that timeline planning can feel overwhelming! That is one of many reasons I highly suggest you hire a wedding planner or a day of coordinator. I know not every budget can accommodate this, however. If you are feeling stressed or just need some reference, I got you. I know you have probably never done this before. But, don’t worry! I have, and I have some tips for you.

I can’t talk about timelines without talking about the First Look. I highly suggest you do a First Look for lots of reasons… A First Look gives you both an intimate moment to see each other without the pressure of walking down the isle and without the eyes of a full audience. Another perk is that you get the majority of your posed photos with the Bride and Groom and Bridal party out of the way before the ceremony. Also, when you do a First Look, you get a lot more time with guests after the ceremony. Every wedding I have done with a First Look ran very smoothly. (I know some people like to stick to tradition and see each other for the first time as she walks down the isle, and I totally get it! Below I will include a Timeline without a First Look as well.)

So here is an ideal 8 Hour Timeline with a First Look. (Your time will vary depending on the length of the ceremony, travel time, how many locations you will need to go to, the time of year and when the sun sets, etc. Some people like to go from 2-10, it just depends on how long you have the venue for and when dinner is. But this will give you an idea of how much each part of the day typically takes.) :

1:00-2:00 Getting ready photos and detail photos. The Dress, the shoes, the rings, invitations, guys hanging out taking a shot, girls in robes on bed, etc.

2:00-2:15 Bridesmaids and MOB help Bride put on dress, shoes, and jewelry.

2:15-2:45 First Look and posed photos of Bride and Groom. (I will get more photos at the sunset hour when the light is best.)

2:45-3:15 Bride and Bridesmaid’s Photos (This can take more or less time depending on the size of your Bridal Party)

3:15-3:30 Groom and Groomsmen’s Photos (This can take more or less time depending on the size of your Bridal Party)

3:30-3:45 Full Bridal Party Photos (If you have a large group, I suggest a bit more time here.)

3:45-4:30 Bride and Groom take a moment and relax. Get your last minute touch ups and hide from guests as they arrive. During this time, the photographers will get detail photos of the ceremony and get our camera setting dialed in.

4:30-5:00 Ceremony

5:00-5:20 Family Photos

5:00-6:00 Cocktail Hour

5:20-5:45/6:00 Golden Hour Bride and Groom Photos (This will depend on how long family photos took and how far you have to walk or drive for posed photos. For example, some venues will take you on a golf card and drive you to ideal spots for your couple portraits.)

6:00-6:15 Announcement for guests to be seated and Bridal party prepare for introductions.

6:15-6:30 Bridal Party Introductions and First Dance

6:30-7:15 Dinner It is best if the Photographers eat at the same time as you so we can return quickly to capture any moments of you mingling before toasts.

7:15-7:30 Toasts. I highly suggest you eat before toasts! It helps to calm the nerves of the speakers and everyone is much more focused after they have eaten. If alcohol is served, it will also give your speakers a chance to soak up some of their delicious drinks with food.

7:30-7:45 Special dances with Parents or someone special

7:45 Open Dancing.

8:00 Cut the Cake

8:30 Bouquet and Garter Toss

9:00 Photographer(s) pack up and call it a night.

Here is the timeline without a First Look:

(You will see the end of the night is a tad bit more crammed and there is a 30 minute gap between when cocktail hour is over and when you join the party at the Bridal Party Introductions. The timeline is a bit more tight, but it is definitely doable.)

1:00-2:00 Getting ready photos and detail photos. The Dress, the shoes, invitations, the rings, etc.

2:00-2:15 Bridesmaids and MOB help Bride put on dress, shoes, and jewelry.

2:15-2:45 Bride and Bridesmaids Photos.

2:45-3:00 Photos of Bride with Immediate Family

3:00-3:15  Groom and Groomsmen Photos

3:15-3:30 Photos of Groom with Immediate Family

3:30-4:30 Last minute touch-ups while photographers get detail photos of the ceremony.

4:30-5:00 Ceremony

5:00-5:20 Family photos

5:20-5:40 Bridal Party Photos

5:40-6:30 Bride and Groom Portraits

5:00-6:00 Cocktail Hour for guests

6:30- Announcement for guests to be seated and Bridal party prepare for introductions.

6:30-6:45 Bridal Party Introductions and First Dance

6:45-7:30 Dinner It is best if the Photographer(s) eat at the same time as you so I can return quickly to capture any moments of you mingling before toasts.

7:30-7:45 Toasts.  I highly suggest you, your guests, and your vendors eat before toasts! It helps to calm the nerves of the speakers and everyone is much more focused after they have eaten. If alcohol is served, it will also give your speakers a chance to soak up some of their delicious drinks with food.

7:45-8:00 Special dances with Parents or someone special

8:00 Open Dancing.

8:15 Cut the Cake

8:30 Bouquet and Garter Toss

9:00 Photographer(s) pack up and call it a night.

Tara & Javier’s Rustic Italian Villa Wedding

Tara and Javier’s wedding in Murphys, California this year was a dream! Their day could not have been more perfect or more beautiful! The weather was on their side, the clouds gave us perfect coverage, the sunset was epic, and all the stars aligned for these wonderful people and we could not be more honored to have captured all of the magic from their day! To say these people are kind, genuine, and all around completely lovely is an understatement! It was a pleasure from beginning to end and we are in love with their images….see for yourself! Enjoy!!!

Tips and Tricks for Mini Sessions

Mini Sessions are a great way to get some Holiday Family Portraits without breaking the Bank! Photographers are able to charge less than normal for a few reasons…..they are booking portrait sessions back to back, they don’t have to drive to multiple locations, and they are photographing shorter sessions and producing less images than a full session. If you have little ones that can’t sit still or last for a full family portrait session but you really want some photos for your Holiday Cards or to hang on your wall, this is the perfect solution for your family! We highly reccommend that you search local photographers for Mini Sessions and book way in advance since this is becoming a very popular and sought after session!

We have done this for a few years and wanted to put together a list of Tips and Tricks for our clients or anyone interested in a Mini Session so here they are!

1. Pick a Color Scheme!
We suggest that you pick out a color scheme for your outfits so it’s not too matchy (like jeans and a red top) but more a color scheme like Green, Brown, and Mustard Yellow, for example. If you are going to hang pictures on your wall, think about the colors of your house so they have a cohesive color palette that best represents your family’s style! We love layers to change up an outfit too so feel free to bring extras like scarves and sweaters to make the outfits feel a bit different for a variety in your photos.

2017-10-22_0005.jpg

2017-10-22_0011.jpg

2. Eat Before The Session!
Make sure everyone eats before the shoot so no babies are hungry. Most Moms and Dads already think about this but we just like to remind everyone since we know that trying to get everyone dressed and out the door on time can be quite chaotic and rushed. A happy child is a happy parent is a happy session! Haha.

2017-10-22_0003.jpg

3. Bring Props!
We love incorporating any props you have that are meaningful to your family. It can be a little stuffed animal your kid loves or a cute sign, whatever it is, feel free to bring it!

2017-10-22_0002.jpg

2017-10-22_0007.jpg

4. Arrive Early!
Since mini sessions go by quickly, we highly recommend you show up 10 minutes early to do all the last minute things like fix a sweater or comb their hair, etc. We know things happen and so we allow a 5 minute late grace period but since mini sessions are booked back to back, after 5 minutes any extra time will go in to the allotted session time. But if you are early, you won’t have to stress and we can start right on time!

2017-10-22_0001.jpg

5. Please Have Payment Ready
We ask you to please bring cash but in some circumstances we will accept check, if need be.

2017-10-22_0009.jpg

6. Let’s Have Fun!!
We absolutely love working with people and capturing beautiful moments between families. We know that trying to get children to dress up in outfits and behave perfectly for a stranger is a tall order but let’s have fun with it. I worked with children for years as a nanny and a preschool teacher and love making them laugh and smile! Don’t hesitate to bribe them with a reward for being good during the session too, this works wonders!

2017-10-22_0004.jpg

2017-10-22_0010.jpg7. What To Expect After The Session…
After the session we will upload your pictures to a private online gallery where you can view, share, and download your High Resolution Edited Images. We know everyone wants to order family photos before the holidays so we try to be as prompt as possible and upload a few within a few days but please allow for 2-3 weeks for the full gallery to be available. Fall and Spring are our busy seasons since we are either full swing in Wedding Season or are wrapping up wedding season and are in the midst of a lot of Family/Senior/Engagement Sessions so please bear with us and know we are working on your images as soon as possible!! Whiteny & Sean Wedding

Whitney and Sean were married this June at Hart 2 Hart Vineyards in Pilot Hill, Ca and it was nothing short of magical! With soft pinks, lavendar, beautiful greens, and lots of lush vineyards, it was EVERYTHING one could want out of a Northern California summer wedding! Whitney and Sean are clearly so much more than a couple; they are a team; they are best friends; they are soul mates! It is obvious the minute you meet these two that the kindness and joy that radiates from them is genuine and contagious! We can’t say enough about them, their Bridal party, their families, the staff at the venue, everthing was just as fun as it was beautiful! Words simply fall short how spectacular this wedding was! So we will let the images speak for themselves! Enjoy!
