Tara and Javier met at R15 in downtown Sacramento while out with friends. They were both watching a Cold War Kids music video playing above the bar while they were waiting for their drinks and instantly noticed eachother. After watching Tara for awhile, Javier walked up to her and said “I normally don’t do this, but I know I’m going to kick myself tomorrow if I don’t ask for your number.” He bought her a PBR and they have been madly in love ever since! Their first date was a Temple Coffee in downtown Sacramento and they instantly hit it off. In a rush to leave the house on time, Javier didn’t realize that his sweater he wore on their first date had shrank slightly in the dryer. Of course, Tara was so smitten with him she hardly noticed! Clearly their first date was a hit because 6 years later and they are still as in love as ever! They bond over Olympic style Weightligting, traveling, live music, and of course their fur-baby Roscoe. While traveling in St. Lucia, Javier brought along their brand new go pro. He asked Tara to stand in so he could test a shot to catch the perfect sunset timelapse. Tara was slightly annoying but stood on the balcony and he directed her to the center of the shot. Then, he got up and joined her on the deck and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, getting the whole thing on video. Little did she know he had hidden the ring in the go pro bag the whole time knowing that she would never bother to look in there.
Tara and Javier love listening to live music and love taking trips to shows in Berkeley, catching a musical festival such as Coachella Fest because as Tara said “he’s my favorite person to rock out with.” You can tell these two are best friends and even made something that could be stressful, like finding a wedding venue, into an excuse for an epic adventure. They drove out to Joshua Tree in search of a venue, went wine tasting in Temecula, searched Palm Springs high and low, visited Napa Valley and the Santa Cruz mountails until Javier finally found the perfect spot: a private residence in Murphys, Ca. When I asked them what about their wedding excites them, Tara said, “wedding planning can be stressful, but we’ve both found it’s also really fun. the amount of love and support we received after we got engaged has made us so excited to plan a day where we get to celebrate our love with the people in our lives.” These two were so fun to work with and are such beautiful people inside and out! They have such a laid back vibe but you can tell they know how to have a good time and live life to the fullest! We are so glad we got to recreate their meeting and their first date with these beautiful photos taken at R15 and Temple Coffee in Downtown Sacramento and then over to Land Park with their gorgeous Labradoodle! Enough from me, here are their pictures!!
